No denying the genius of Russell. Lovely man. However when you take his quote out of its original context it just doesn’t work Katie.

For years brands have been making people want stuff. That how brands work surely?

The best example in recent times is the iPhone.

It’s very expensive. It plays music like an iPod yet it has only 10% of the capacity of a traditional iPod. Plus it’s made by Apple, a minority player in the computer market and a novice in the mobile phone market.

Yet people want one. They’re also prepared to pay top dollar for one. Why?

Because it’s an Apple. A company/brand renowned for making people want stuff.
