A print campaign by NSW Police in Australia to raise awareness of the number of teenagers dying as a result of listening to iPods while they cross the road is beginning to reach epidemic proportions. Who knew!

Pretty inventive, aren’t they? I honestly think they did a great job on this one. I mean, it certainly captures the attention and interest of the teenagers they’re trying to protect. They could have just come up with an ordinary poster with a warning but here is something hop and modern that speaks to the audience. Good job.

The mayor is talking about outlawing everything distracting — because while iPods are an issue with teens, if you get adults who are on cell phones while looking something up on their Blackberries, they’re going to be run over, too.
Of course, the problems aren’t the gadgets. People are just being idiots. At least here, even without cell phones or iPods, everyone walks out into the street with eyes averted, as if not seeing the car will make it go away. And they then want it to be the driver’s fault when they get hit.
